Profile
When Ken Takenaka decided that athletic training was the right career path for him, little did he know it would lead him off of the playing field and into the office. “Having worked as an athletic trainer in the collegiate setting and loving it, I never imagined leaving it for something that I love so much more.” His passion for sports medicine and surgical assisting led him from his life in Georgia out to the Pacific Northwest.
Ken works primarily with sports medicine and total joint surgeon Dr. Brett Andres. “Orthopedic + Fracture Specialists gives me such a unique opportunity to work for and learn from not only amazing physicians but also wonderful people. They genuinely care about each and every patient, wanting what’s best for their individual life, and I really connect with that.”
Ken believes that some of the most important factors in patient outcomes are trust in your team, patient education, and caring about the patient, not just the injury. Whether your goal is to get back to skiing and football or to just live life a bit more comfortably, Ken believes that understanding your body, including its limitations, can add to quality of life.
When he’s not in the office, in the surgical suite, or on the field at one of the many schools and sports covered by Orthopedic + Fracture Specialists, Ken enjoys spending time with his wife, watching movies, working out, and playing tennis. He has a strong passion for man’s best friend as well. “My dogs are like my kids and they give me plenty of exercise every day.”
