If you’ve visited an orthopedic clinic, there’s a good chance you’ve interacted with a Physician Assistant, or PA. But what exactly does a PA do in orthopedics?

To answer that question, we spoke with Kat Rodenberg, PA-C, a Physician Assistant at Orthopedic + Fracture Specialists, about her role and how PAs help patients throughout their orthopedic care.

The Role of a PA in Orthopedic Care

Depending on a patient’s needs, an orthopedic PA may be involved in many different parts of their care. This can include evaluating orthopedic injuries and conditions, reviewing imaging, discussing treatment options, assisting with procedures, and monitoring a patient’s progress.

By working alongside orthopedic surgeons and other members of the care team, PAs help make sure patients receive coordinated care from their initial visit through recovery.

In our latest video, Kat Rodenberg, PA-C shares what she does as an orthopedic PA, how she works alongside orthopedic surgeons, and the role she plays in helping patients get back to the activities they enjoy.
