Max Munson, MA, ATC

Max is a Portland native and is excited to be home after nearly a decade away from the Pacific Northwest. His passion for athletic training began young, watching his dad, a college and high school football coach, tape ankles before practices and games. An athlete himself, he realized that Athletic Training would allow him to help student-athletes achieve their goals and stay around the sports he enjoyed so much.

Profile

Max is a Portland native and is excited to be home after nearly a decade away from the Pacific Northwest. His passion for athletic training began young, watching his dad, a college and high school football coach, tape ankles before practices and games. An athlete himself, he realized that Athletic Training would allow him to help student-athletes achieve their goals and stay around the sports he enjoyed so much.

Max works primarily with the University of Portland Men’s and Women’s Cross Country and Track and Field teams. During the college offseason he will work to develop outreach for combat sports athletes (MMA, BJJ, Judo, Boxing), a large but underserved community of athletes in the Portland Metro Area.

Max has spent the last 3 years as an Athletic Trainer for the College of San Mateo, a large junior college in San Mateo, CA, working with all student-athletes in the athletics program. Prior to CSM he was an Athletic Trainer for Santa Clara University for 3 years, working primarily with Women’s Basketball. Before moving to California, he was the Athletic Trainer for Ashland High School in Ashland, OR, as well as the lead ATC for the Oregon Shakespeare Festival for 2 years.

When he is not working, Max enjoys fishing, reading and music. He also has a passion for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Judo and trains as often as he can.
