Susan Watkins is a Family Nurse Practitioner who started her career at Providence St. Vincent Medical Center as a staff nurse in the operating room working evening and weekends. Here, she had a great exposure to orthopedic surgery and trauma care which encouraged Susan to spend most of her career in this area of nursing.
Susan’s experience includes 22 years of perioperative nursing practice predominantly in, but not limited to, orthopedic trauma, sports medicine, and total joint replacement. As an operating room nurse she has functioned in the role of scrub nurse, circulating nurse, education coordinator, trauma coordinator and OR manager. She worked as an RN First Assistant assisting in surgery for five years before becoming a nurse practitioner in 2003.
Susan has spent the last 13 years working in private orthopedic practice evaluating and treating patients with all types of orthopedics conditions and injuries and assisting in surgery.
